1. Roots and these terms
These terms govern access to the Roots website and application, including test access. Roots is provided by Craftcart ("we", "us", or "our"). Questions, legal notices, complaints, and service-related requests can be sent to admin@craftcart.app. By creating an account or using account features, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or continue using those features.
2. Eligibility and account security
You must be at least 18 and of legal age to enter an agreement where you live. Use your own phone number, provide accurate account information, and complete the required verification. Keep your PIN, device, tokens, and verification codes secure. Do not share credentials or access another person’s account without authorization. Let us know promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. A service still growing
Roots is under development for Android and iOS. Public app-store downloads are not currently available. Website illustrations explain the concept and do not represent real families or promise every illustrated feature is available. Current functions focus on accounts, profiles, family spaces, invitations, and connections. Story archives, collections, maps, and other roadmap features may change or may not be released. We do not promise a release date, uninterrupted availability, or a complete genealogical record.
4. Your content and permissions
You retain any rights you have in content you contribute. You grant Roots the limited permission needed to store, process, display, and share that content with authorized users to operate the service. This permission ends when the content is removed from active use, except for restricted retention required by law, a legitimate unresolved matter, or applicable backup procedures.
Only contribute content you have the right to share. Respect other people’s privacy, copyright, cultural heritage, and wishes about sensitive family information. Get appropriate authorization before sharing information about children. Do not assume that being related to someone gives unlimited permission to publish information about them.
5. Family spaces and shared records
Family owners manage invitations and roles. Editors and viewers have permissions assigned within each family. A membership in one family does not authorize access to another. Owners should arrange an ownership transfer when leaving a family they solely own. If that is not possible, contact support so a deletion request can be assessed without leaving a shared space improperly controlled.
Family relationships and historical details may be incomplete, disputed, or inaccurate. Roots does not verify ancestry or make legal findings about parentage, inheritance, nationality, or identity. A shared family record is distinct from an individual’s app account; deleting an account does not automatically decide the treatment of every shared record. 6. Acceptable use
Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, discriminate against, or exploit others; upload unlawful or infringing material; share credentials; send spam or unauthorized messages; scrape private family information; bypass access controls; introduce malicious code; or interfere with service security. Do not use Roots to stalk people, expose private locations, or obtain information you are not authorized to access.
We may investigate reports and restrict content or access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, protect users, or comply with law. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain a restriction and provide a way to raise a concern at our contact address.
7. Privacy and third parties
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information. WhatsApp, app stores, device providers, external sites, and asset providers have their own terms and practices. Roots does not control those services or guarantee message delivery. Never send a PIN or OTP in a support email.
8. Fees and availability
This website does not currently offer a checkout or paid subscription. Any future paid service will disclose its price and applicable payment, cancellation, and renewal terms before purchase. Your mobile network or messaging provider may charge its own connectivity fees. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, with notice where required by applicable law.
9. Ending use and requesting deletion
You may stop using Roots and request account or personal data deletion at any time through the instructions on Account Deletion and Data Deletion. Uninstalling the app or signing out does not delete the server account. We may suspend or terminate access for serious breaches or legal requirements, subject to applicable law. Termination does not remove any rights or duties that must continue, including legitimate privacy requests.
10. Responsibility and legal rights
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Roots is provided on an “as available” basis without a guarantee that user-supplied family information is accurate or that the service will be error-free. Keep independent copies of information important to you. We are not responsible for another user’s actions except where applicable law makes us responsible.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or other non-excludable conduct, or removes mandatory consumer or data protection rights. No term requires you to waive rights that the law gives you.
11. Disputes, changes, and contact
Please first contact admin@craftcart.app so we can try to resolve a concern. Applicable mandatory law and your rights to approach a competent court or regulator remain in effect; these terms do not impose binding arbitration or require you to give up a legally protected local forum. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to the extent legally permitted.
We may update these terms as Roots changes. The date at the top identifies the latest version; material changes will receive additional notice where required. For legal issues, privacy concerns, content complaints, or support, contact admin@craftcart.app.
