What is Roots?
Roots is a family heritage app being developed to help people understand their family connections and feel closer across generations and borders. It starts with personal profiles, family spaces, invitations, and family relationships.
Can relatives living abroad be part of our family?
Yes. Roots is designed around your family, wherever relatives live. Family spaces bring invited relatives together; an internet connection and phone verification are needed to use the app.
Is our family space open to everyone?
Family spaces use membership and permissions. Owners manage invitations and roles, and access is checked by the server. Your family connection information is intended for authorized family members, rather than a public directory.
Do I need to know my whole family history?
No. Begin with yourself and the relatives you know. Names and connections can grow as more family members contribute. You don’t need to know everything to make a meaningful start.
Can I download the app now?
Roots is in development for Android and iOS. Public store downloads are not available yet. This website introduces the app and its purpose; story archives, photo collections, and family maps are part of the wider vision rather than a promise of currently available features.
